Traditional Heated Towel Rails for a Period Bathroom

13 Apr 2018, 3:44 PM

Traditional bathroom radiators

Until about a century ago, bathrooms were purely functional in nature. A bathroom just had to be clean and hygienic, and people didn’t really bother too much about the design and aesthetics. However, things have come a long way since then. Now, bathrooms require equal attention in terms of interior design and making sure the theme of the bathroom co-ordinates with the rest of the house. For instance, if your house bears a Victorian or Edwardian period theme, the same will be reflected in the design in the bathroom.  Individual components of a bathroom play an important role in creating a period traditional ambience, see our guide to traditional bathrooms for more information one each component, but you also want to make sure that these items are also functional, this includes the heating of the room.

Typically, you might imagine that a heated towel rail is too modern for a traditional style bathroom and might feel out of place. However, you may be surprised to find out that there are a range of traditional bathroom towel radiators which are specifically designed to incorporate historical elements of that period like chrome legs or exquisite metal work while offering a functional towel warmer.

Traditional Bathroom Radiators

A traditional heated towel rail is a welcome sight in almost any bathroom. Not only can traditional towel rails provide comfort and convenience, they can also inject a burst of class and style into the room. There are many different traditional heated towel rails available, meaning that you can easily pick out one that suits both your budget and your bathroom style. While looking for the perfect radiator for your traditional style bathroom, make sure that it blends in with other components like the bathtub, the basin and the plumbing design. Thanks to the huge range of designs, you should be able to find a towel rail which complements your bathroom at large. At the same time, also consider the colour scheme. Victorian bathrooms usually follow a black and white colour theme with dashes of deep burgundy or violet; make sure that towel rail isn’t too jarring in terms of its colour. Usually, a white towel rail works best with a Victorian style bathroom.

Like any other radiator for you home, you will want to check the heat requirements for the room and make sure the radiators and radiator valves are suitable for your heating system. To find out your heat requirements you can use out room heat calculator or read our post about choosing the right bathroom radiator for more information.
