17 Jun 2026, 12:25 PM

The guide above provides an overview of the installation process. For detailed fitting instructions, wiring information, technical drawings and wall opening dimensions, please view the full Showerwall Niche Installation Manual in the flipbook below.

How to Install a Showerwall Niche

A Showerwall niche is a stylish and practical way to add storage space within a shower enclosure, wet room or bathroom wall. Available in a range of sizes with optional integrated LED lighting, bathroom niches create a modern recessed shelf for storing shampoos, shower gels and other bathroom essentials.

This Showerwall niche installation guide provides an overview of the fitting process. For full technical drawings, dimensions and detailed installation instructions, please refer to the flipbook installation manual below.

Before You Start

Before installing your Showerwall niche, it is important to ensure that the wall opening has been prepared correctly and that the installation area is suitable for the niche size selected.

Always:

  • Check the niche for any damage before installation.
  • Ensure the wall structure can support the niche.
  • Confirm all electrical work is carried out by a qualified electrician where LED niches are being installed.
  • Read the full installation guide before beginning work.
  • Follow all relevant UK building regulations and electrical standards.

If your niche includes integrated LED lighting, the electrical connection should be completed by a suitably qualified professional.

Tools Required

The following tools may be required during installation:

  • Spirit level
  • Pencil
  • Measuring tape
  • Drill
  • 6mm drill bit
  • Torque screwdriver
  • Snips
  • Silicone sealant
  • Utility knife

Always follow the manufacturer's safety guidance when using power tools.

Preparing the Wall Opening

The wall opening should be accurately measured and cut to suit the niche being installed.

For best results:

  • Position the niche as far away from tile joints as possible.
  • Ensure the opening is level and square.
  • Check all measurements before cutting.
  • Allow sufficient clearance for installation and sealing.

Careful preparation helps reduce the risk of tile damage and ensures a professional finish.

Installing a Showerwall Niche

Step 1 – Prepare the Opening

Create the wall opening according to the dimensions shown in the technical drawings. Check that the niche fits correctly before applying any sealants or fixings.

For LED niches, electrical connections should be prepared before the niche is installed.

Step 2 – Apply Silicone Sealant

Apply a continuous bead of silicone sealant to the wall surfaces around the niche opening and along the edge of the niche where required.

This helps create a watertight seal and prevents moisture penetration behind the wall finish.

Step 3 – Secure the Niche

Insert the niche into the prepared opening and secure it into position.

Check that the niche is level before final fixing.

Allow the silicone sealant to cure fully before use. Showerwall recommends allowing approximately 24 hours drying time before the niche is exposed to water.

LED Showerwall Niches

Selected Showerwall niches are available with integrated LED lighting, providing additional illumination and a premium contemporary appearance.

When installing an LED niche:

  • Ensure power is isolated before any electrical work begins.
  • Follow the supplied wiring instructions carefully.
  • Use a qualified electrician for all electrical connections.
  • Test the lighting system before final sealing.

LED niches offer a stylish feature within modern bathroom and wet room designs while providing practical lighting for everyday use.

Care and Maintenance

Showerwall niches are designed for easy maintenance.

To keep your niche looking its best:

  • Clean regularly using warm water and a soft cloth.
  • Use mild soap where required.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners, scouring pads and harsh chemicals.
  • Rinse thoroughly after cleaning.

Following these simple care instructions will help maintain the appearance and performance of your Showerwall niche for years to come.
